About the role
To provide technical support in the various aspects, functions, and responsibilities of The Department of Pharmacy. Effectively executes all competencies on a regular basis specific to assigned area / location. Assists in the training, orientation and assessment of New Employees, Interns, Externs and Students. Participates in a Quality Improvement Initiative. Plays a significant role in the department’s readiness for The Joint Commission.
Responsibilities
- Completes all registration requirements and maintains active status with the State of Georgia Pharmacy Board.
- Prepares aseptic solutions with demonstrated efficiency.
- Works mathematical calculations accurately.
- Demonstrates knowledge of inpatient and outpatient drug distribution systems.
- Provides pharmacy services appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Affirms knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Affirms ability to assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs and provide care for different patient groups (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric).
Requirements
- High school graduate or completed a high school equivalence course.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification by the Georgia Board of Pharmacy preferred.
- Prior health care experience, particularly hospital pharmacy experience, is preferred.
- Completion of a 6-week training program and passing a final exam with a score of 80% or better in each section of the test is required.
- Ability to type and perform mathematical calculations accurately.
- Knowledge of inpatient and outpatient drug distribution systems.
- Ability to work with patients of different ages and understand their specific needs.
