About the role

To provide technical support in the various aspects, functions, and responsibilities of The Department of Pharmacy. Effectively executes all competencies on a regular basis specific to assigned area / location. Assists in the training, orientation and assessment of New Employees, Interns, Externs and Students. Participates in a Quality Improvement Initiative. Plays a significant role in the department’s readiness for The Joint Commission.

Responsibilities

  • Completes all registration requirements and maintains active status with the State of Georgia Pharmacy Board.
  • Prepares aseptic solutions with demonstrated efficiency.
  • Works mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of inpatient and outpatient drug distribution systems.
  • Provides pharmacy services appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Affirms knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Affirms ability to assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs and provide care for different patient groups (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric).

Requirements

  • High school graduate or completed a high school equivalence course.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification by the Georgia Board of Pharmacy preferred.
  • Prior health care experience, particularly hospital pharmacy experience, is preferred.
  • Completion of a 6-week training program and passing a final exam with a score of 80% or better in each section of the test is required.
  • Ability to type and perform mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Knowledge of inpatient and outpatient drug distribution systems.
  • Ability to work with patients of different ages and understand their specific needs.

  • Ability to assess and interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs and provide care for different patient groups (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric).
