PHARMACY TECH II

Pay rate: $17.80 - $24.04 (Pharmacy Tech I) / $19.27 - $27.94 (Pharmacy Tech II) + $2.00 shift differential if applicable. Eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,000 (Tech I) or $5,000 (Tech II) based on relevant experience.

About the Role

This position assists the pharmacist in preparing all pharmaceutical dosage forms (except those prepared by IV-trained technicians or requiring specialized pharmacist skills). Responsibilities include preparing dosage forms and prescriptions to the point of "final check" by the pharmacist, ensuring safe and effective patient medication, maintaining drug inventory, and managing patient records under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The role also involves distributing medications throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in preparing pharmaceutical dosage forms (excluding IV preparations and specialized pharmacist tasks).
• Prepare dosage forms and prescriptions to the point of "final check" by the pharmacist.
• Ensure safe and effective preparation of patient medication.
• Maintain drug inventory and patient records under pharmacist supervision.
• Distribute medications throughout the organization.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Strong computational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Illinois registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (or equivalent, unless exempted by Illinois grandfathering provisions).

Qualifications

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Course (preferred).
• Prior training and experience in pharmacy, particularly in hospital pharmacy admixture programs (highly preferred).
• Typing skills (a plus).

Pay

Non-exempt hourly position. Pay rates vary by role and experience:

• Pharmacy Tech I: $17.80 - $24.04 per hour.
