PHARMACY TECH - CERTIFIED [ FULL TIME / VARIABLE SHIFT]

Responsibilities

• Enter information into and retrieve information from a database or patient profile
• Prepare and affix labels
• Stock dangerous drugs and retrieve those drugs from inventory
• Count and pour dangerous drugs into containers
• Place dangerous drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist
• Perform non-sterile drug compounding following completion of site-specific training
• Perform sterile drug compounding following completion of site-specific training
• Stock automated drug storage systems, floor stock, and crash carts

Education

• Minimum: High school completion / GED
• Preferred: Completion of an ASHP/ACPE-accredited technician education and training program

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Certified Pharmacy Technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
• Registration with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a “Certified Pharmacy Technician” or eligible for registration within 45 days of hire

Experience

• Minimum: No prior job-related work experience
• Preferred: Prior hospital, long-term care or retail experience

Knowledge/Skills

• Good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and write printed material in English
• Proficiency with computer keyboard operations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred
• Ability to compute simple algebraic ratios, volume/volume percentage and weight/volume percentage
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or perform minor maintenance on pharmacy equipment, printers, computers and telecommunication equipment with adequate training
• Familiarity with pharmacy software
• Ability to work well with other healthcare workers and perform as a team member
• Flexibility in scheduling essential as mentor/trainer of new coworkers
