PHARMACY TECH - CERTIFIED

Responsibilities

• Entering information into and retrieving information from a database or patient profile
• Preparing and affixing labels
• Stocking dangerous drugs and retrieving those drugs from inventory
• Counting and pouring dangerous drugs into containers
• Placing dangerous drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist
• Non-sterile drug compounding following the completion of site-specific training
• Sterile drug compounding following the completion of a site-specific training
• Stocking automated drug storage systems, floor stock, and crash carts

Qualifications

• Education: High School completion / GED, Preferred: Completion of an ASHP/ACPE-accredited technician education and training program
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certified Pharmacy Technician through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), Registered with the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a “Certified Pharmacy Technician” or eligible for registration within 45 days of hire.
• Experience: No prior job-related work experience, Preferred: Prior hospital, long-term care or retail experience
• Knowledge/Skills: Good interpersonal skills, Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Problem-solving skills, Proficiency with computer keyboard operations, Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Ability to compute simple algebraic ratios, Volume/volume percentage and weight/volume percentage, Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, Printers, Computers and Telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy, Ability to work well with other health care workers and perform as a team member, Flexibility in scheduling essential as mentor/trainer of new coworkers
