Pharmacy technicians are persons who are skilled or trained in the practical, technical and distributive aspects of pharmacy practice. In the inpatient and infusion areas, responsibilities include receiving medications, stocking, medication distribution including into automated drug dispensing devices, medication pulling and checking and sterile and non-sterile compounding, including compounding of hazardous drugs. Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in the routine, day-to-day functions of pharmacy practice. Through the performance of these tasks and through collaboration and teamwork with pharmacists, technicians allow pharmacists to engage in activities that optimize care and bring value to our patients. These activities primarily focus on the quality and the safety of the care provided. Technicians are supervised by licensed pharmacists who verify the accuracy of their work and coach their performance.

$5,000 sign-on bonus for External Hires. Requires a 1-year commitment to Confluence Health. Additional rules apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level customer service and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the department.
• Attend meetings and provide feedback to improve workflow and safety.

Inpatient Responsibilities

• Receive, store, and manage medications according to storage requirements.
• Pull medications for preparation or dispensing based on labels or automation prompts.
• Prepare sterile and non-sterile products (includes hazardous drugs) per USP 795, 797, and USP 800.
• Fill narcotic requisitions and maintain proper documentation.
• Stock automated dispensing cabinets, anesthesia machines, and clinics with medications.
• Assist in ordering and inventory management.
• Repackage bulk medications and batch sterile compounds.
• Perform unit inspections and manage expiration dates.
• Operate and maintain automated pharmacy distribution systems.
• Train new staff and precept students.

Med Rec Tech Responsibilities

• Compile and complete medication profiles using EHR, pharmacy records, and patient/caregiver interviews.
• Support medication and allergy list accuracy to prevent errors.
• Evaluate medication adherence through EHR review and patient interviews.
• Document findings for pharmacist review and approval.
• Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Active Washington State Pharmacy Technician License or active Washington State Pharmacist Intern Registration.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification (within 90 days of hire).
• Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, accurate keyboarding, email communication, and password management.

Qualifications

Desired: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
