What You’ll Do
- Enters (new and refill) prescription orders in the computer to include: Upon receipt of the prescription check for insurance (Medicaid-obtain card), drug allergies, check for duplicate discounts with Medicaid.
- Alerts the pharmacist if any drug allergies are known and enters into the computer.
- Alerts the pharmacist if any drug-drug interactions arise.
- Enters and charges insurance prescriptions properly.
- Enters and charges all indigent patient programs.
- Sends medication requests to the provider if patient is out of refills.
- Enters all prescription information in pharmacy system.
- Corrects insurance information if prescription is rejected.
- Prescriptions
- Fills prescriptions accurately, counts and labels all medications before pharmacist checks.
- Contacts provider, if needed.
- Completes patient assistance applications and follows up on refills.
- Maintains reports of patient assistance medications.
- Forwards faxes to appropriate department.
- Assists in all aspects of mailing prescription via UPS.
- Calls patients to arrange for home delivery of medications.
- Calls patients with upcoming refills due to facilitate processing of refills.
- Customer Services
- Responsible for balancing and closing out cash drawers.
- Prepares end of day reports (QS1 POS), while maintaining a cash drawer with adequate change to operate.
- Includes daily balancing cash and reports for submission to finance department.
- Presents Eagle Excellence Service always.
- Affixes ADAP patients.
- Answers phone calls.
- Maintains supplies/PCMH
- Reorders low stock.
- Signs in orders: checks quantities, prices and expiration dates, files all paperwork properly, separates files for Controlled Substances receipts, updates acquisition prices in the computer.
- Maintains office supplies: orders from proper places using proper forms.
- Files filled prescriptions daily in numerical order.
- Assists with promoting the collaboration for the patient’s continuum of care with all members of the PCHH Care Team.
- Maintains Continuing Education credits as required by the NC Board of Pharmacy.
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bilingual
- BLS Certificate from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Registered with NC Board of Pharmacy as a Technician within 30 days of employment and then annually.
- 340B University for Health Centers Certification (within 90 days)
- Medicare Parts C & D General Compliance Training and Combating Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (within 90 days, and then annually)
Preferred
- Certified Pharmacy Technician
- Pharmacy Experience (Will train on the job)
