About the role
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Pharmacy Services are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Pharmacy Distribution Centre as a Pharmacy Support Worker, Higher Level within the Vaccine Holding Centre.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe, accurate and compliant supply of medicines and vaccines in line with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde standard operating procedures.
- Work collaboratively within a supervised team environment while contributing to the coordination of vaccine supply and maintaining service continuity.
- Undertake accurate picking, packing and distribution of medicines and vaccines following completion of required training and competency assessments.
- Maintain cold chain processes to ensure vaccine integrity and manage the receipt of goods while updating stock management systems and adhering to Good Distribution Practice and the Falsified Medicines Directive.
- Support stock control processes across a range of stock types including vaccines, controlled drugs, high cost medicines and unlicensed products, while participating in stock investigations and maintaining documentation.
- Ensure the safety, legality and quality of medicines throughout storage and distribution and support the training of colleagues where appropriate.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement and patient safety across the region.
Requirements
- Demonstrate a general level of education, including basic numeracy and literacy skills, evidenced by three Standard Grades or equivalent qualifications, including English and Maths.
- Basic IT skills are required alongside the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
- Candidates must be able to work effectively as part of a team, follow established procedures and communicate clearly with colleagues.
- The ability to organise their workload and use initiative appropriately is desirable.
- Experience in a healthcare or regulated environment, stock management and supervising or training staff is desirable.
Qualifications and/or experience
- A commitment to achieving relevant SVQ qualifications and participating in ongoing training and development is essential.

Pay
This is a permanent post working 36 hours.
Schedule
- You will be based at the Pharmacy Distribution Centre Vaccine Holding Centre within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
- The role requires participation in a variable shift pattern working five days over seven. Shifts include 7 am to 3 pm, 8 am to 4 pm, 9 am to 5 pm, 10 am to 6 pm and 11 am to 7 pm, including weekend working and public holidays to support vaccine campaigns and medicine supply.
