Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains an active practice in his/her specialty area and serves as the institutional expert regarding pharmacy practice issues which arise in or from that area.
  • Plans, develops, and implements new, high-quality, cost-effective pharmacy programs and services relating to the specialty area of practice.
  • Provides direct direction, oversight, support and evaluation of 6th year Doctor of Pharmacy Students assigned to his/her area of responsibility.
  • Provides proper training and direction in pharmacy functions and procedures for personnel assigned to the specialty area.
  • Identifies and resolves daily operational and/or clinical problems which arise in his/her area of practice working with staff from other departments as necessary.
  • Designs and conducts applied research. Contributes regularly to the pharmacy and/or medical literature.
  • Represents the department at appropriate internal and external meetings

Education/Experience

  • Must hold a degree from an accredited college of pharmacy and must complete a residency training program or have equivalent experience in hospital pharmacy practice.
  • ASHP approved PGY1 residency or equivalent hospital experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of pharmacist experience or the equivalent training and experience at another institution, preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to meet and exceed practice standards set for a Level II pharmacist.
  • Must be qualified to work with pharmacy students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Must have a previous work history of reliability, dependability, and willingness to assume additional responsibilities.
