About the role
Smith's Food and Drug, now part of The Kroger Company, seeks a professional pharmacist to provide essential pharmacy services. This role involves filling prescriptions, counseling patients, and supervising pharmacy technicians. Compliance with professional standards, statutes, and regulations is paramount.
Responsibilities
- Teamwork to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant shopping environment.
- Friendly and efficient customer service, demonstrating sincerity, patience, and respect.
- Adherence to local, state, and federal health and civil codes.
- Interpretation of prescriptions and entry of data into the computer system.
- Providing prescription information to pharmacy technicians and supervision during filling.
- Counseling patients over the phone and in person regarding medication side effects, administration, and interactions.
- Ensuring patient understanding of medication treatment programs.
- Consulting with prescribers on drug therapy appropriateness.
- Following efficiency and accuracy procedures when filling prescriptions.
- Administering immunizations under defined protocols.
- Providing direct patient clinical services, including coaching and medication therapy management.
- Monitoring and maintaining patient profiles.
- Monitoring inventory levels to maintain adequate service levels.
- Performing daily operational duties under the direction of the pharmacy manager.
- Adhering to and reinforcing department policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Ensuring adherence to current merchandising, labor control, expense, supply control, loss prevention, and maintenance rules.
- Reporting illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Complying with and enforcing food safety, sanitation, and safety regulations according to company, local, state, and federal health code regulations.
- Identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
- Regularly using close vision, depth perception, and adjusting eye focus.
- Frequently standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Lifting or moving objects up to 25 lbs.
- Maintaining the ability to work at multiple locations as needed.
- Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
- Minimum Board of Pharmacy license.
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and outgoing demeanor.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Strong math skills (calculating discounts, proportions, percentages).
- Basic algebra and geometry skills (calculating circumferences, volumes).
Desired
- APhA Immunization Certified.
