Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a pharmacy team to provide exceptional patient care by promoting best practices and leading through change
- Act as a role model for the pharmacy team, demonstrating genuine care and setting high standards
- Oversee pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthen performance measures through coaching and follow-up
- Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, collaborating with healthcare teams, and resolving insurance/medication issues
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations; support Pharmacy Technicians to learn immunization skills
- Manage pharmacy inventory, with special focus on protecting cold chain products
- Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding, including training on CVS workflow and licensure completion
- Ensure pharmacy operations are compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues as needed
- Partner with Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross-trained colleagues and ensure timely completion of required training
- Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists (where applicable), manage performance, deliver reviews, and close gaps
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; write or delegate pharmacy schedules
- Review business reporting for operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance
- Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion; build psychological safety and act on feedback
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required trainings and CMEs; seek opportunities to expand knowledge
- Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception) where permissible
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; protect patient privacy and maintain a safe and inclusive workplace
Required Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
- 1–2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
Essential Functions
- Regular and predictable attendance, including weekends
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
- Attention and Focus: Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time; pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs; confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety

- Communication Skills: Use and understand verbal and written communication; utilize active listening by giving full attention, asking questions, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Mathematical Reasoning: Use math to solve problems such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense, day’s supply, and/or number of bottles needed
- Problem Resolution: Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action among multiple options
- Physical Demands: Be mobile and upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; move fingers repetitively; stoop; close visual acuity for transcribing, reading, and inspections; lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently; express ideas clearly through spoken word; receive detailed oral communication
- Team Management and Leadership: Lead by example; delegate tasks; empower and motivate team members; apply problem-solving skills; adapt and take ownership; coach, reinforce, provide feedback to, discipline, and/or terminate pharmacy team members as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
- 3–5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs
Pay
The typical pay range for this role is $65.00 – $85.00 per hour. The actual base salary offer will depend on experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay.
