About the role
Supervise the pharmacy staff, including the staff pharmacist(s), technicians, and clerks.
Demonstrate compliance with federal, state, and local laws when filling and dispensing prescription and non-prescription medications.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, ensuring patient safety, professional practice, adherence to regulatory requirements, quality assurance, customer service, personnel management, inventory management, financial profitability, loss prevention, workflow management, medication therapy management, immunizations, and clinical programs.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations in the pharmacy department.
- Responsible for filling prescriptions accurately (translating, filling, verifying and post verifying).
- Provide customer counselling and remarkable customer service and ensure pharmacy staff is providing as well.
- Communicate with the entire healthcare team, patients, and third-party insurance companies.
- Operate computer filling system, email, and fax machines.
- Answer phones.
- Inventory management - including ordering, addressing out of stocks, addressing outdates, biennial physical inventory, Supply Logix and maintain inventory goals.
- Complete and file paperwork as per company policy.
- Interface with supervision, operations, field support, and store management.
- Supervise pharmacy staff (staff pharmacist, technicians, cashiers, and interns) - may include hiring, training, work assignments, performance reviews, and terminations).
- Affirm compliance with all policies and procedures set forth by the company.
- Aid with HBC items and HBC Counselling.
- Maintain compliance with Federal and state laws.
- Lead clinical programs, including but not limited to MTM, Diabetic education classes, Health Screenings, Time My Meds, and Immunizations.
- Attend twice-yearly physical inventory mandatory meetings and training sessions.
- Provide offsite vaccinations.
- Perform pharmacy maintenance including but not limited to floor care, construction, and sanitation.
- Meet with store management team regularly to review metrics, set goals and objectives.
- Resolve temperature excursions in the pharmacy to include coming up with a response plan for after-hours to respond to alerts to maintain the integrity of the refrigerated medication in the pharmacy.
- Seek out marketing opportunities in the community (immunization clinics, community participation).
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy preferred.
Current Pennsylvania State Pharmacy License required.
Experience in a retail pharmacy setting preferred.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws regarding prescription and non-prescription medications.
