About the role

The Pharmacy Manager at Henry Ford Health Providence Southfield leads daily pharmacy operations, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a mission-driven organization. The role involves leading pharmacy services, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and supporting educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Approves written policies and procedures for services in the area of responsibility.
  • Plans or assists in the design and layout of physical facilities as necessary to support service in the areas of responsibility.
  • Works with other members of the pharmacy leadership team to assure the effective integration of operational and clinical services.
  • Reviews pharmacy services in the area of responsibility to assure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations and with national standards of practice.
  • Establishes and maintains ongoing cost analysis, quality assurance, and quality improvement programs.
  • Participates in the preparation of the budget and establishes appropriate budgetary controls.
  • Prepares and/or reviews periodic reports of fiscal performance relative to budget and the areas of responsibility.
  • Interprets and administers personnel policies and procedures.
  • Affords assistance in recruiting, hiring, and training new staff.
  • Provides for continuing training of staff to assure ongoing competency.
  • Provides for supervision and evaluation of staff.
  • Affords assistance in the design, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of computer systems and related equipment used to enhance quality and efficiency of pharmacy services.
  • Creates and maintains an environment which supports undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate training programs in pharmacy practice.
  • Affords assistance in the orientation and training of Pharm.D. students, residents, and fellows in pharmacy.
  • Coordinates activities, as appropriate, with educators from outside colleges or universities.
  • Creates and maintains an environment which supports pharmaceutical research.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Pharm.D. or equivalent).
  • Completed a residency program approved by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, a fellowship in pharmacy, or demonstrated a similar level of achievement in the practice of pharmacy.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in working with and coordinating activities of others in developing improved pharmacy services.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills enabling the manager to contribute effectively in the dissemination of information to all levels of health care personnel in the institution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of progressive pharmacy practice.
  • Previous work history of reliability, dependability, and willingness to assume additional responsibility.
  • Able to work with pharmacy students at all levels.
  • Completed research demonstrating originality and investigative ability in an area of administrative and/or clinical pharmacy practice.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Michigan.
  • Board Certified in the area of specialty practice.
