About the Role
As a Pharmacy Supervisor at The GIANT Company, you will oversee pharmacy staff, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and manage day-to-day operations. Your responsibilities will include filling and dispensing prescription and non-prescription medications, ensuring patient safety, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving customer service excellence. You will also lead clinical programs, manage inventory, and collaborate with store management to meet business goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations in the pharmacy department, including workflow, staffing, and compliance.
- Fill prescriptions accurately (translating, filling, verifying, and post-verifying).
- Provide customer counseling and ensure pharmacy staff delivers remarkable customer service.
- Communicate with healthcare teams, patients, and third-party insurance companies.
- Operate computer systems, email, fax machines, and phones.
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering, addressing out-of-stocks, outdates, and biennial physical inventory.
- Complete and file paperwork as per company policy.
- Supervise pharmacy staff (pharmacists, technicians, cashiers, and interns), including hiring, training, work assignments, performance reviews, and terminations.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as federal and state laws.
- Assist with Health & Beauty Care (HBC) items and counseling.
- Lead clinical programs such as Medication Therapy Management (MTM), diabetic education classes, health screenings, and immunizations.
- Attend mandatory meetings, training sessions, and twice-yearly physical inventory.
- Provide offsite vaccinations and maintain pharmacy sanitation and maintenance.
- Resolve temperature excursions in the pharmacy, including after-hours response plans for refrigerated medications.
- Meet with store management to review metrics, set goals, and seek community marketing opportunities (e.g., immunization clinics).
Skills & Qualifications
- Supervisory experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Proficiency in prescription filling systems, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong communication skills for counseling patients and collaborating with healthcare teams.
- Ability to lead clinical programs and community outreach initiatives.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local pharmacy laws.
