About the role
Manages day-to-day pharmacy operations in a 340B community health center pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures. Supports the mission of the organization and promotes utilization of available programs and grants to help eligible patients access affordable medications. Manages the pharmacy site budget and travels regularly to NVHC clinics and dispensaries to perform site reviews and manage inventory.
Responsibilities
- Ensures pharmacy operates and maintains records in compliance with Federal and State regulations, including but not limited to, 340B, DEA, and CMS.
- Ensures pharmacy operates and maintains records in compliance with NVHC policies and procedures.
- Supervises pharmacists, pharmacy techs, and clerks; responsible for scheduling and payroll.
- Ensures a pharmacist is scheduled to cover in the event of absence or ETO.
- Ensures the appropriateness and accuracy of all prescriptions and the provision of proper patient counseling.
- Utilizes available programs, including 340B, Title X, and other grants, to help eligible patients gain access to affordable medications.
- Ensures security of drug inventory and pharmacy records.
- Ensures drug inventory is maintained at appropriate levels to fulfill prescription orders while managing cost.
- Ensures pharmacy remains clean and well organized.
- Utilizes EHR as needed to determine patient eligibility, to review relevant health information for the provision of pharmacy services, or to perform compliance audits.
- Utilizes published drug information references and clinical practice guidelines as needed.
- Works under collaborative practice agreements, if applicable according to individual credentials.
- Effectively teaches students, residents, pharmacists, and other health care professionals.
- Completes tasks and implements programs as assigned by Regional Manager or Director.
- Ensures pharmacy compliance with patient confidentiality and HIPAA.
- Prepares for annual Board of Pharmacy inspection.
- Promotes both patient and interdepartmental satisfaction by providing excellent customer service to external and internal customers.
- Promotes staff engagement through regular rounding, coaching, and recognition.
- Manages pharmacy labor and expenses to ensure spending remains within budgeted allowances.
- Meets with Regional Manager monthly to review profit and loss reports.
- Performs regular audits and site reviews at clinic and pharmacy sites.
- Prepares quarterly pharmacy inventory report for Finance.
- Travels regularly for site visits and job-related education and training.
Requirements
- Graduate of accredited school of pharmacy.
- CPR and immunization certifications required.
- Five years of pharmacy experience.
- Must be professionally competent with a license in good standing from the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy.
