Pharmacy Intern
About the role
Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the incumbent prepares, dispenses, and distributes medication and provides clinical monitoring and drug information to ensure optimal patient care.
Reviews and interprets prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients using computerized patient profiles to ensure appropriateness of dosage and identify potential drug-drug interactions. Contacts and confers with physicians concerning appropriate drug, dose, dosing interval, drug allergy, and drug-drug interactions.
Prepares and dispenses inpatient and outpatient medications, fills automated dispensing machines, and delivers patient medications accurately. Conducts IV rounds and prepares IV additives and chemotherapy admixtures using aseptic techniques under pharmacist supervision.

- Attends staff meetings, completes all required competencies, and fulfills mandatory education assignments.
- Seeks training, education, certification, and enhancement in area of focus/specialty.
- Demonstrates behavior standards that enhance positive interactions with physicians, peers, patients, and family members.
- Completes other duties as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid Florida Pharmacist Intern License.
Special Skills/Qualifications: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
