About the role
The Pharmacy Intern at Sheltering Arms Institute will support pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care services to patients across different age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. This role involves assisting with tasks such as medication preparation, dispensing, record keeping, and transportation.
Responsibilities
- Aid pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care services to patients.
- Assist in the preparation, dispensing, record keeping, and transporting of medications for all patients.
- Under direct supervision, perform pharmacist-related responsibilities.
- Under minimal supervision, perform Pharmacy Technician duties at a high level of proficiency.
- Demonstrate exemplary work behaviors and ownership for the success of the work area.
Requirements
- Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.
- Active enrollment in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program.
- Clean criminal record (no felony conviction, no drug or pharmacy related convictions, no denial, suspension, revocation, or restriction of registration or licensure by any State Board of Pharmacy).
Qualifications
- One (1) year of pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting preferred.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and under supervision.
