Pharmacy Intern

Responsibilities

• Completion of a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in areas such as:
  • Following company SOPs at each workstation
  • Pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Providing empathetic and caring service
  • Handling telephonic prescriptions
  • Maintaining inventory activities
  • Supporting immunizations
• Assisting the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations, prompt and accurate prescription fulfillment, and patient satisfaction.
• Learning to operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication.
• Demonstrating empathy and genuine care in patient interactions, offering counseling, fielding medical questions, and soliciting patient information.
• Taking telephonic prescriptions, clarifying prescriptions, facilitating medication changes, and providing vaccinations.
• Maintaining a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and being receptive to feedback.
• Supporting immunizations by completing additional licensure and training requirements, educating patients, monitoring adverse reactions, and documenting patient information.

Requirements

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, confirm prescription information, and label accuracy.
• Active listening, clear communication, mathematical reasoning, and problem resolution skills.
• Physical demands including mobility, reaching overhead, stretching, lifting up to 20 lbs, and bending.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Ability to become immunization certified once state regulations are met.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
