Pharmacy Intern

Responsibilities

• Completion of a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in areas such as:
  • Following company SOPs at each workstation
  • Pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Providing empathetic and caring service
  • Handling medical questions and counseling patients
  • Telephonic prescription processing
  • Maintaining inventory and cycle counts
  • Supporting immunizations and other patient health care services
• Assisting the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations, prompt and accurate prescription fulfillment, and patient satisfaction
• Operating as part of the pharmacy team, applying Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication
• Demonstrating empathy and genuine care in all customer and colleague interactions
• Learning and complying with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical principles
• Complying with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and security
• Supporting additional patient health care services, including immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinic staffing

Requirements

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
• Possession or process of obtaining valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
• Attention and focus, including concentration on tasks and pivoting quickly between tasks
• Customer service and team orientation, including actively looking for ways to help people and responding appropriately
• Effective communication, including using and understanding verbal and written communication
• Mathematical reasoning, including using math to solve problems
• Problem resolution, including identifying and resolving challenging patient or colleague interactions
• Physical demands, including mobility, remaining upright for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, reaching overhead, stretching, and bending

Qualifications

• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to become immunization certified once state regulations are met
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
