Pharmacy Data Entry Technician
Right Dose Pharmacy, a member of the Guardian family of pharmacies, is seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Ankeny, Iowa. We deliver customized medication management solutions to support healthcare organizations serving seniors and individuals with complex care needs, using a comprehensive suite of tech-enabled pharmacy services.
About the role
You will enter and process prescriptions with speed and accuracy, communicate courteously with customers, and ensure timely dispensing of medications. This is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where your expertise can make a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities
- Enter new and refill prescriptions into the operating system accurately and promptly to eliminate dispensing errors
- Triage incoming fax prescriptions to ensure timely dispensing
- Add proper notes in the computer and apply cycle-fill coding
- Calculate and/or verify correct dosages based on prescriptions
- Respond to customer calls with caring, understanding, and courtesy; route calls appropriately to ensure top-level service
- Ensure all assigned prescriptions are completed during the regular shift
- Receive, evaluate, process, and follow up on refill requests from doctors’ offices
- Develop proficiency in all pharmacy systems (document imaging, legacy pharmacy computer operating system)
- Assist as needed with filing completed orders, packaging medications, inventory, profiling orders for medical records, and filling processed prescriptions
- Learn and manage the cycle process to meet delivery deadlines
- Maintain data entry records for cycle medication, fill requests, and process renewal and new cycle orders
- Perform other essential functions and duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (per state requirements)
- Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration (per state requirements); National Certification (PTCB) preferred
- 2+ years of related experience (advanced degree may substitute for experience)
- Advanced computer skills; pharmacy operations system experience preferred
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills with minimal direction
- Great attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines
- Quality-focused; motivated to identify errors and inquire when something appears inaccurate
