Pharmacy Customer Service Associate

Walgreens Pharmacy Technician role focused on delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience while supporting pharmacy operations under the supervision of a pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Registers sales on assigned cash register and provides courteous, fair, and efficient checkout service.
• Assists the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engages customers by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Models and shares customer service best practices, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs).
• Recommends items for sale, registers customer purchases, processes voids, returns, refunds, and exchanges, and assists customers in locating products.
• Maintains clean and well-merchandised counters and shelves, takes inventory, and keeps records.
• Checks in and prices merchandise as directed by the store manager or shift leader.
• Fills prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying accuracy, and checking for interactions under pharmacist supervision.
• Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, and reports prescription errors immediately.
• Adheres to Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policies.
• Handles telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, processes manual claims for third-party prescription services, and performs clerical duties as assigned.
• Supports inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
• Ensures compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco).
• Constructs and maintains displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise, and completes resets and revisions as directed.
• Assists with stock rotation and product placement for consumable items using the first in, first out method.
• Provides customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photos, poster prints, and suggestive selling of promotional photo products.
• Monitors and fulfills web pick-up orders for photo services.
• Assists with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, and orderly store appearance.
• Complies with all company policies and procedures and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.

Training & Personal Development

• Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state-required certification/registration.
• Completes training and PPLs requested by management or assigned by corporate, and acquires continuing education credits.
• Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including staying updated on the latest news and developments.

Pay

Salary Range: $16 - $18 / Hourly
