About the role
The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist – Internal Medicine/Hematology Oncology serves as a decentralized clinical pharmacist embedded within an inpatient solid tumor oncology service, providing comprehensive pharmacotherapy management for hospitalized patients. While practicing within an oncology environment, this role is primarily focused on internal medicine, with the majority of clinical responsibilities centered on managing acute and chronic medical conditions, optimizing medication therapy, conducting therapeutic drug monitoring, performing medication reconciliation, and supporting multidisciplinary patient care.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide pharmaceutical care for patients.
- Participate in patient care rounds.
- Perform pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and provision of pharmaceutical care for patients.
- Provide general and patient-specific drug information.
- Educate clinical pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students, post-graduate trainees, allied health professionals, nurses and physicians in pharmacotherapy.
Requirements
- PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy
- If hired for a specialty area where specialty residency training is available, then specialty residency is required
- Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) OR eligible for reciprocation in the current state within 90 days of hire
- Completion of a post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or fellowship OR completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY-1) and two years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmaceutical monitoring OR four years of experience as a clinical specialist or an equivalent role providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring

- Prior oncology experience
Physical Requirements
- Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
- Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
- Must have normal or corrected vision.
- Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
Pay Range
Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00
Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00
