About the Role

The Pharmacy Clerk plays a key role in customer service and pharmacy operations, handling prescriptions, insurance information, payments, and inventory management. This position supports Variety Care’s accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and contributes to the goals of healthcare reform by improving care experience, health outcomes, and reducing costs.

Responsibilities

• Answers phone calls, greets customers, and processes prescriptions.
• Confirms insurance information and handles payments for orders.
• Reviews and manages inventory, stocks shelves, and reports shortages.
• Inputs medications, orders, labels, and counts stock of medications, supplies, and chemicals; enters data into the computer database.
• Prepares and processes medical insurance claim records and forms.
• Operates cash registers to accept payments.
• Responds to customer requests and questions via phone and in-person.
• Supports Variety Care’s commitment to safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.
• Demonstrates leadership, integrity, adaptability, and sound judgment in the department and community.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Able to lift at least 25 pounds.
• Able to walk, bend, lift, and remain on feet for extended periods.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English).
• Experience with ComputerRx software is preferred.
• Good decision-making and problem-solving ability.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics to solve problems.
• Highly effective time management skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Able to stand for extended periods.
• Able to follow written and oral instructions efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Retail pharmacy experience.
