Position Summary
The Pharmacy Automation Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operations and monitoring of the hospital’s automated medication dispensing systems. The primary duties include:
- Managing the inventory of the ADM systems house-wide.
- Making sure expiration dates are monitored, par levels are established, and medications are located to minimize LASA errors.
- Creating, assessing, and reporting on quality assurance and performance improvement activities related to medication dispensing via the automated dispensing machines and inventory management.
- Following regulatory standards and policies regarding the dispensing, security, storage, and labeling of medications.
- Maintaining necessary record-keeping and training documentation pertinent to areas of responsibility.
- Promoting a sense of team effort together with pharmacists and technicians.
- Assisting in identifying/researching problems and issues related to automated dispensing cabinets and pharmacy inventory.
- Remaining current on standard practices through continual education.
- Affixing alert stickers to ADM pockets and revising stock based on formulary changes.
- Developing, assessing, and reporting on quality assurance and performance improvement activities relating to medication dispensing via the automated dispensing machines and inventory management.
- Maintaining necessary record-keeping and training documentation pertinent to areas of responsibility.
- Providing orientation/training on ADM use to new employees; providing updated information regarding changes in policies/procedures.

Physical Requirements
- Standing, sitting, walking for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Push/pull 40 pound cart for prolonged distances containing supplies/medications.
