Responsibilities
- Performs routine clerical duties such as answering telephone, taking messages, distributing mail, operating office machines.
- Prepares, maintains, and retrieves departmental reports and correspondence.
- Typing of letters, memos, reports, forms, requisitions, bills, prescription labels, and product labels as required.
- Distribution and billing functions in the unit dose drug system and the outpatient pharmacy.
- Performing routine ordering and supply functions, maintaining appropriate records, and staying updated on purchasing information.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with nurses, pharmacists, technicians, facility personnel, and patients regarding patient pharmaceutical care needs.
- Entering new physician and prescription data into terminal.
- Maintaining a neat, clean, orderly, and well-stocked work area in various pharmacy departments.
- Participating in pharmacy continuous quality improvement programs, inspections of patient care units, and other quality programs as assigned.
- Using and being proficient in the operation of the pharmacy computer system.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Type at least 30 words per minute accurately.
- Knowledgeable in good grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic math skills.
- At least 3 to 6 months of on-the-job training required to achieve proficiency in assigned duties.
- No prior history of alcoholism, drug addiction, or indiscriminate use of habit-forming or dangerous drugs.
- No drug-related felony convictions or criminal records.
