Responsibilities

• Explain pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug classification, autonomic pharmacology, cardiovascular drugs, antimicrobials, endocrine agents, central nervous system drugs, chemotherapy agents, and drug interactions.
• Teach receptor binding mechanisms, dose-response relationships, therapeutic indices, and adverse effect profiles to prepare students for nursing licensure, pharmacy boards, and medical practice.
• Break down drug mechanisms of action, absorption-distribution-metabolism-excretion pathways, and dosage calculations.
• Guide students through comparing drug classes, analyzing patient-specific pharmacotherapy considerations, interpreting drug interaction charts, and applying pharmacological principles to clinical scenarios.
• Emphasize safe medication administration and connect pharmacology to patient safety and evidence-based prescribing.
• Adapt instruction using drug classification tables, clinical case scenarios, and NCLEX or board-style practice questions to support healthcare students preparing for licensure exams.
• Identify and address concepts students commonly struggle with, using multiple teaching approaches tailored to individual learning needs and styles.

Requirements

• Advanced subject mastery in pharmacology, including deep knowledge of key topics and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Familiarity with pharmacology curricula for nursing, pharmacy, and medical programs, including common challenges like memorizing drug names, understanding cytochrome P450 interactions, and performing dosage calculations.
• Strong conceptual teaching and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles and student needs.
• Effective communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
