About the role
This staff Pharmacist position supervises and leads pharmacy technicians for retail operations, filling in for shifts as business dictates while supporting complete retail pharmacy operations and HR PBM Relations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily activities of pharmacy technicians and guide activities
- Interpret physicians' orders and compound and dispense medications and other pharmaceuticals in accordance with legal and ethical standards
- Provide drug information to other healthcare professionals
- Monitor drug therapy to prevent drug interactions or other potential problems
- Staff and coordinate schedule with the Manager pharmacist
- Fill in for full or partial shifts and shortages as business dictates
- Support complete RVH Pharmacy retail pharmacy operations
- Support all HR PBM Relations; promote PBM relations as a resource of education and excellence in service
- Administer vaccines when appropriate
- Delegate tasks within legally accepted guidelines to pharmacy technicians
- Comply with all applicable policies and procedures, including departmental and functional policies
- Check appropriateness of medication orders based on patient's age and clinical status
- Demonstrate accountability and initiative to handle changes in operational clinical volumes and meet required services
- Assist in procuring, maintaining, and storing an adequate inventory of medications
- Maintain required state and federal records for controlled substances
- Coordinate with other medical and healthcare professionals; promote a consistent team-building approach for delivery of patient care
- Initiate and communicate effectively regarding appropriateness of medication orders and special instructions for administration and/or monitoring medications as related to patient's age and/or clinical status
- Monitor drug interactions
- Participate with performance improvement activities
- Keep current licensure requirements as regulated by the Indiana State Board of Pharmacy
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Pharmacy degree from an accredited university, as required by law
- Pharmacist license eligible to practice in the state of Indiana
- BLS through the American Heart Association within 6 months of hire date
Qualifications
- Experience in Retail Pharmacy required
- Five (5) years or more Retail Pharmacy experience preferred
