Pharmacist IS Analyst I

About the Role

The Pharmacist Analyst role utilizes pharmaceutical clinical knowledge and expertise to complete build and support the Epic Willow Inpatient Application, medications impacting Epic Beacon Oncology protocols and therapy plans, as well as other medication requirements. This role supports completion of formulary requests that require understanding of pharmacy operations and data analytics skills to ensure solutions meet the organizational needs.

The candidate must evaluate clinical operations to analyze workflows and recommend alternative approaches for process improvements to address identified issues. This includes reviewing new or improved capabilities, translating needs into functional requirements, and identifying, defining, and developing solutions to application and system problems.

The role requires effective communication and facilitation skills to interface with varied audiences, as well as problem-solving skills to maximize capabilities and meet operational needs. The Pharmacist Analyst leverages knowledge of information technology (IT) systems and medication-use processes to improve patient care by supporting technologies that lead to safer, more cost-effective medication use across ECU Health.

This role works in concert with the Manager of Pharmacy Applications, utilizing knowledge of pharmacy practice, pharmacy automation, clinical information systems, and pharmacy computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the management of clinical knowledge databases (e.g., drug-drug interactions, route selection).
• Manage guideline compliance rules (e.g., hard edits and reminders) and decision support toolsets (e.g., best practice advisories).
• Create and manage a standardized formulary (administration, clinical, ordering, and dispensing) and assess the impact of changes to downstream ancillary systems across a multi-site healthcare environment.
• Obtain and/or maintain current certification from vendors and pursue continued education to understand electronic health record functionality.
• Apply IT best practices, including build tracking, change management, end-user testing, integrated testing, mock live, go-live support, and transition to support.
• Provide simple to moderate qualitative and quantitative analysis on data and information as part of medication requirements gathering prior to build.
• Communicate clinical concepts to technical teams and system design concepts to end users.
• Validate and support clinical applications.

Requirements

• BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy, registered/licensed with the North Carolina State Board of Pharmacy.
• Residency training in inpatient pharmacy practice, drug information, or inpatient pharmacy administration, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in pharmacy practice, drug information, or pharmacy administration.
• Operational knowledge of healthcare areas such as nursing, perioperative services, emergency department, and support services.
• Ability to work in a dynamically changing environment with competing priorities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Information Technology/Clinical Systems experience (preferred).
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with IT best practices (build tracking, change management, end-user testing, integrated testing, mock live, go-live support, and transition to support).

Pay

$123,572.80 - $180,111.36

Schedule

Hybrid role requiring presence within 2 to 3 hours of Greenville, NC.
