Pharmacist Intern PRN
Job Summary
A Pharmacy Intern is an individual currently enrolled in a school of pharmacy and has an intern’s license through the school. The intern, under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services, and/or Lead Pharmacy Technician, and/or Licensed Pharmacist, assists in the various activities of the pharmacy department not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist.
Responsibilities
- Maintain patient records
- Set up, package, and label medication doses
- Fill and dispense routine orders for stock supplies of patient-care areas
- Refill and inventory automated dispensing machines, maintain inventories of medication supplies
- Mix medications with parenteral fluids
- Uses appropriate techniques for storage, preparation, and dispensing of medicinal agents
- Follows the health system’s policies regarding cart fill, unit dose distribution, medication preparation and labeling, controlled substances reconciliation, and ensuring that EMT boxes and medications for crash carts are stocked, checked, and ready to be dispensed
- Assists in inventory maintenance and control
- Assists department in maintaining inventory contained in automated dispensing equipment
- Demonstrate teamwork to maximize operational efficiencies
