Pharmacist In Charge- Non Sterile Compounding

Position Summary

We seek a Pharmacy Compounding Staff Pharmacist to supervise and direct pharmacy processes and personnel, ensuring efficient and timely dispensing of medications while complying with all relevant State Board of Pharmacy laws. The Staff Pharmacist reports to the Operations Pharmacist and/or Operations Manager and assumes responsibility for pharmacy operations as the pharmacist‑in‑charge, adhering to all statutes and regulations pertinent to pharmacy practice in the state of licensure.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an ACPE‑accredited School of Pharmacy
• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE‑accredited School of Pharmacy
• 3 years non‑sterile compounding experience
• 2 years experience as a Pharmacy Operations pharmacist or supervisor

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Texas Board of Pharmacy license (or applicable state license)

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to patients and clinic staff.
• Fill new prescriptions and refills using various compliance packaging forms.
• Order and maintain appropriate inventory controls within the pharmacy.
• Manage, within authorized protocol, storage and designation of sample medications and patient assistance program medications.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with the medical director, providers, case staff pharmacists, and other clinic staff as the primary pharmacy‑clinic liaison.
• Provide drug consultation services to patients and clinic staff as required.
• Communicate frequently with physicians and their offices to clarify prescription details, insurance, or prior authorization information.
• Oversee controlled substance logs and inventory.
• Supervise and coordinate pharmacy staff activities, including technicians, staff pharmacists, cashiers, and drivers, ensuring all licensed professionals’ certifications are active and in good standing.
• Manage rejected claims, conduct gross margin analysis, and generate reports for management as requested.
• Sign and retain all documentation required as Pharmacy Staff Pharmacist/Pharmacist of Record.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with all DEA requirements for the assigned pharmacy.
• Participate in clinic committee and staff meetings.
• Assume full operational responsibilities, including financial performance, to meet company metrics and goals.
• Promote and increase sales to develop a profitable business unit and support continued growth.
• Human Resources duties:
  • Training and development of team members.
  • Hiring, coaching, and terminating employees.
  • Providing consistent feedback to direct reports.
  • Managing time off, payroll, and overtime.
  • Completing new‑hire feedback forms.
• Identify and deliver new accounts from partnering agencies or external sources.
• Manage accounts payable to minimize debt write‑offs.
• Execute monthly marketing events and quarterly lunch‑and‑learn sessions.
• Ensure timely processing of all prescriptions, including walk‑in customers.
• Maintain knowledge of federal and state requirements for filling prescriptions and insurance compliance.
• Ensure completion of online training for each employee.
• Administer vaccines and point‑of‑care testing.

Educational or Skills Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy.
• Current pharmacist license in the state of employment.
• Pharmacy management experience preferred (not required).
• Compounding experience preferred (not required).
• APhA Pharmacy‑Based Immunization Delivery Certificate or equivalent.
• Bloodborne pathogen training.
• CPR certification.
• ReNue RX will provide additional training if necessary.

Candidates must pass a drug test before beginning employment.
