About the Role

As a Specialty Pharmacist supporting patients with hemophilia, you'll play a vital role in helping individuals manage a complex chronic condition by ensuring access to specialized therapies, optimizing treatment outcomes, and providing compassionate patient support.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patients receive the right medication, know how to use their medication, and address/resolve drug therapy issues prior to dispensing.
  • Review and enter prescription orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide patient counseling and education regarding medications and treatment plans.
  • Verify prescription data entry for completeness and accuracy.
  • Conduct drug utilization reviews to identify and resolve potential therapy-related concerns.
  • Partner with clinics to clarify and obtain prescriptions.
  • Coordinate and assist in managing and participating in pharmacy services, including dispensing of medications, quality assurance, and clinical monitoring activities.
  • Participate in decisions regarding pharmaceutical services, including assessing patient pharmaceutical needs, planning for service provision, and participating in the overall plan of care and quality improvement.
  • Receive physician prescription orders and evaluate appropriateness for dosage, drug choice, potential drug interactions, route of administration, and stability.
  • Supervise filling, receiving, compounding, and dispensing activities to provide finished products to patients.
  • Ensure patient charts are complete with allergies, height, weight, medical history, lab results, and concurrent medications.
  • Ensure necessary laboratory tests are ordered, results obtained, and discussed with the healthcare team.
  • Provide clinical interventions and assess responses to therapy, patient compliance, and ongoing review of drug regimens; report and manage adverse events.
  • Determine remaining doses on hand to manage inventory and avoid waste.
  • Document all communication with physicians, nurses, and patients in the patient chart.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of all necessary paperwork required by state, federal agencies, and the Joint Commission.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager in implementing new procedures and training/supervising pharmacy personnel.
  • Participate in performance improvement projects and provide in-service programs to nursing and pharmacy personnel.
  • Attend and/or complete education and training programs, review relevant literature, and complete competency/skills assessments.
  • Participate in on-call schedule and perform other tasks as determined by the Pharmacist-In-Charge.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • A licensed pharmacist with hemophilia pharmacy experience.
  • Must reside in and maintain an active pharmacist license in one of the following states: Florida, Texas, Missouri, California, or Michigan.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and 3+ years of mail order, retail, or hospital pharmacy experience OR Pharm D. Experience in Hemophilia is highly preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Current state’s Pharmacist license (FL, TX, MO, CA, or MI).

Schedule

Monday through Friday.

  • 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM (Eastern/EST)
  • 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM (Central/CST)
  • 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Pacific/PST)

Some holidays are required when business is open.

Pay

Pay Range: $51.78 - $95.81 per hour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law, including full-time or part-time status. Total compensation may also include additional forms of incentives.
