Pharmacist

Position Summary

Pharmacists are responsible for duties including but not limited to: order entry, accurate dispensing of medications, renal dosing interventions, pharmacokinetic dosing, patient counseling, and supervising students and technicians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review orders for accuracy, dosage, safety, drug interactions, duplicate therapy and allergies
• Accurately verify and/or enter orders into Cerner
• Supervise technicians and students
• Attend codes
• Perform Pharmacy calculations
• Check medication and intravenous preparations for accuracy
• Prepare and oversee the preparation of sterile compounds using aseptic technique
• Maintain the sterile compounding area using appropriate cleaning protocols and documentation
• Adhere to the safe handling of hazardous medication practices
• Adhere to departmental and hospital policies and procedures
• Perform functions using hospital computer systems (e.g. Cerner, Meditech, Pyxis, etc.)
• Promotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE error prevention habits
• Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct

Required Qualifications

• Education and Training: Graduate of an ACPE accredited Pharmacy School with a PharmD degree.
• Pharmacist license in the State of Illinois

Work Shift Details

Variety of shifts including Days, evenings, weekends, overnight, alternating weekends (roughly every 3rd), various holidays
