About the role
The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Infectious Diseases will integrate into a long-standing and progressive Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) at Carilion Clinic, including a robust ID Pharmacist team, ID PGY2 pharmacy residents, and a collaborative ID Medical Division.
Responsibilities
- Integrate into a long-standing and progressive Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP)
- Join a team of colleagues rotating coverage of CRMH stewardship, community hospital stewardship, and ID consult team services
- Direct patient care responsibilities including: prospective audit/feedback utilizing decision support software, penicillin allergy de-labeling/skin testing, and rapid diagnostic blood culture review
- Patient care responsibilities for adult and pediatric patients, including an anticipated kidney transplant program within the next year
- Administer administrative responsibilities leading system initiatives, infectious diseases guideline development, staff education, relevant committee representation, and precepting pharmacy students as well as PGY1 pharmacy residents (CRMH and CNRV locations) and PGY2 infectious diseases pharmacy residents (CRMH location)
- Collaborate with the ID division at weekly case conference, as well as weekly team meetings with the system ASP team
Requirements
- Graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
- Current Virginia pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure
- ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency or 3 years of experience in clinical pharmacy
- Specialized PGY2 residency training in Infectious Diseases preferred
