Description & Requirements

The St. Luke’s Health System is seeking a Full-Time Inpatient Pharmacist to provide high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients and customers of the medical center. The pharmacist is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based medication therapy while supporting clinical teams through consultation, medication review, and direct patient care. This role supports inpatient operations during evening hours and collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate the appropriateness of prescribed medication therapy, including dosing, route, interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
  • Perform cognitive clinical pharmacy services, documenting clinical findings, interventions, and recommendations in accordance with medical center standards.
  • Provide medication information, education, and consultation to patients, nurses, physicians, and other medical staff.
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as appropriate and within scope of practice.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations related to medication use.
  • Interpret prescriptions and medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Compound, prepare, and dispense medications in accordance with established policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records related to medication therapy, prescriptions, patient charges, inventory, and medical documentation.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and accountability of medications, including controlled substances.

Supervision & Leadership

  • Serve as a role model and mentor to technicians, students, residents, and new pharmacy practitioners.
  • Aid in the training and development of pharmacy staff, learners, and department personnel.
  • Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and teamwork within the pharmacy department.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety activities as assigned.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities consistent with the role and as assigned by pharmacy leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Degree from an accredited school or college of pharmacy (PharmD or equivalent)
  • Experience: 0 years of experience required (new graduates welcome)
  • Licenses & Certifications: Valid Pharmacist License in the state of Idaho, Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through one of the following: American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross, American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI)
