About the role
The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist I is expected to take responsibility for establishing and expanding clinical services in their area of practice. This includes the development of medication protocols, order sets, and facilitation of medication utilization reviews and performance improvement projects to optimize drug therapy. The role provides mentorship and serves as a clinical resource for staff and other healthcare providers in their area of expertise. Additionally, the specialist provides expertise for clinical activities relating to various programs for the department of pharmacy to ensure optimal patient outcomes and performs drug distributive functions as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Establish and expand clinical services in area of practice.
- Develop medication protocols and order sets.
- Facilitate medication utilization reviews and performance improvement projects to optimize drug therapy.
- Provide mentorship and serve as a clinical resource for staff and other healthcare providers.
- Provide expertise for clinical activities relating to various pharmacy programs to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Perform drug distributive functions as assigned.
- Demonstrate ability to work with patient growth and development based on population groups.
- Meet standards of quality as measured by the quality improvement process.
Requirements
- Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.).
- Registered Pharmacist license.
Qualifications
- If no residency training: 5 years of practice experience in area of specialty and Board Certification required.
- If no Board Certification: Must obtain BPS within one year of hire date to remain in this position.
- PGY1 residency: 2 years of practice experience in area of specialty and BPS required.
- PGY2 residency: Must obtain BPS within 1 year of hire (PGY1 = 3 years of experience and PGY2 = 2 additional years).
- Minimum required experience: 5 years.
Pay
Estimated salary range for this position is $118,907.47 - $154,579.71 per year, depending on experience.
