PH Perinatal Registered Nurse-1 or 2

About the role
As a Public Health Perinatal Registered Nurse within the Habersham County Health Department at District Two, Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals supporting the mission of protecting lives and promoting healthy lifestyles for Georgia residents. District 2 Public Health serves 13 counties in northeast Georgia: Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White. This fast-growing region includes both rural and urban communities with diverse public health challenges.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care under supervision (PH RN 1) or general supervision (PH RN 2) in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Focus on preventing illness, injury, or disability; promoting health; and maintaining the health of populations, including special-needs groups during disasters, emergencies, and biological/chemical events.
- Conduct outreach, education, and case management for high-risk perinatal and postpartum women and infants up to one year of age through home visits.
- Perform home visits for prenatal, postpartum, and infant assessments to evaluate patient conditions and coordinate with providers to ensure appropriate care.
- Educate patients, offer referrals for additional services, and document observations and follow-up plans.
- Attend required meetings at local, district, and state levels.
- Supervise additional staff as needed.
- Travel within District 2 as necessary.
- Familiarity with OB/GYN hospital practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- PH RN 1:
- Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Completion of a Public Health Nurse (PHN) course within one year of hire.
- Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
- CPR certification.
- No prior experience required.
- PH RN 2:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university OR Associate's degree/diploma in Nursing from an accredited college.
- One year of Public Health Nursing (PHN) experience (if holding an Associate's degree/diploma).
- Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire (if holding an Associate's degree/diploma).
- Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
- CPR certification.
