Pet Trainer

About the role
Trains pets on the various Invisible Fence® Brand pet solutions according to the preferred training method and instructs customers on how to follow-up the training with reinforcement of procedures and practices associated with the training protocol.
Responsibilities
- Provide training for pets with training method recommended by Invisible Fence® Brand.
- Provide support and training for customers to follow-up the certified training provided by the instructor.
- Effectively communicate with the customer the goals of each training session as well as the equipment used.
- Display a full understanding of the products and how they are used within the training sessions.
- Set-up transmitter and receiver by programming the equipment for the training session and adjust as needed.
- Correctly display and explain the importance and maintenance involved in providing a correct fit with the receiver.
- Utilize the Dealer Tool to correctly set and adjust system settings and to track usage by the pet for more efficient training sessions.
- Maintain and clean all company vehicles and equipment assigned to Certified Pet Trainer.
- Provide superior customer service:
- Arrive promptly at scheduled time for training sessions.
- Greet customers and pets in a friendly manner and address customer concerns in a timely manner.
- Provide a full report of recommendations and observations.
- Recommend products and services that may be beneficial to their pets based upon their observations.
- Return calls to all customers immediately.
- Solicit and collect customer referrals and endorsement letters.
- Provide a clean and neat training session for customer home, cleaning up any messes during the training.
- Consistently deliver friendly, positive and professional service at all times, including travel times to jobs and professional driving habits.
- Maintain Ambassador status for Invisible Fence® Brand, actively seeking referrals, leads and appointments with every customer contact.
- Collect all necessary paperwork and payments for all additional contracted services and submit to GM in a timely manner.
- Maintain proper inventory and stocking of training materials necessary.
- Assess customer’s pets to determine suitability for Invisible Fence® Brand solutions, reporting to customer and GM any potential issues.
- Build relationships with customers, to include creation of Self-Generated Leads and Google Reviews.
- Exceed standard customer satisfaction levels.
- Troubleshoot and repair any system issues and work to resolve during first visit, to prevent go-backs.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license, clear driving record and driving skills.
- 1 year of pet training experience.
- Outstanding verbal, written and listening communications skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of management, staff and customers.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and time constraints and solve practical problems with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and interpret English and effectively communicate sales or training requirements with customers accurately.
- Technical abilities necessary to use cellular phones (all electronic devices) for training services and recording notes.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk on a regular basis. May occasionally be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl to provide training services.
- Results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and high level of professionalism.
- Well-groomed and maintain continued professional appearance and demeanor.
Work Environment
- May include exposure to outside weather conditions; wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold or heat.
- Requires time traveling in provided vehicle to customers’ homes.
- Must interact with customers and their pets with a risk of injury from working with pets, including but not limited to bites, scratches, etc.
Accountabilities
- Follow Invisible Fence® Brand and PSB company policies, procedures, training manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, diagrams, schedule forms, instructions and sales/service contracts.
- Exceed standard customer satisfaction levels by resolving customer issues by taking personal ownership of the situation and creating a win-win-win solution.
- Return customer calls as soon as the message is received.
- Champion timely follow-up service for the customer.
- Solicit and receive customer referrals and endorsement letters.
- Follow-up on free battery plans for customers to ensure they are awarded for applicable referrals.
- Always deliver friendly and professional service to all customers.
- Annual certification for Perfect Start™ Plus pet training.
- Submit customer reports and notes to AM, GM or AGM and submit SGLs, upsells and Google Reviews.
- Report to AM or GM any vehicle maintenance issue that may require additional maintenance.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Relationships
- Consistently sets high standards with the Branch associates to develop and enhance customer relationships.
- Reports directly to the Area Manager or General Manager.
- Works with IFB FSS to schedule appointments.
Schedule
- Must be available to service the customer and take appointments between the hours of 8 AM - 6 PM Monday - Saturday, with last appointment availability starting at 6 PM on a rotating schedule, 5-day work week including weekends if your rotation shift falls on a weekend.
- Must be available to work 2-3 Saturdays per month (50% Saturdays per month).
