Hospice Services of Massachusetts is looking for compassionate and caring pet therapy volunteers to join our team in the Lowell area! What does a pet therapy hospice volunteer do? Our volunteers work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and the team to provide emotional and task-oriented support to patients and their families. A great hospice volunteer is someone who has a big heart. Our patients are at the end of life, and our mission is to provide a meaningful and comfortable experience for them and their family. What are the requirements? Must be at least 18 years old and have a reliable and insured method of transportation and a valid driver's license.Must possess your own certificated therapy animal.Must possess a certification in pet therapy.We will collect proof that the animal is up-to-date on vaccinations.Must be willing to visit patients in their home setting (skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, hospitals, homes, etc).Must be willing to commit at least one hour a week for a minimum of six months. We are flexible with the schedule.Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.Must be able to deal tactfully with confidential and personal information regarding patients and their plan of care.
