Pet Therapy Volunteer
About the role
Athena Home Health & Hospice is seeking compassionate and caring pet therapy volunteers to join our team in Hartford County. Volunteers work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and the interdisciplinary team to provide emotional and task-oriented support to patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and the interdisciplinary team to provide emotional and task-oriented support to patients and their families.
- Provide a meaningful and comfortable experience for patients and their families.
- Visit patients in their home setting (skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, hospitals, homes, etc.)
- Commit at least one hour a week for a minimum of six months.
- Be flexible with the schedule.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a reliable and insured method of transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Must possess your own certified therapy animal.
- Must possess a certification in pet therapy.
- Must be willing to commit at least one hour a week for a minimum of six months.
- Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to deal tactfully with confidential and personal information regarding patients and their plan of care.
Qualifications
No experience is required. We will help prepare and support you throughout your time as a volunteer.
