About the role

Dakin Humane Society is a community-supported animal welfare organization providing shelter, medical care, spay/neuter services, and behavioral rehabilitation for over 20,000 animals and people annually. Founded in 2022, the Pet Health Center (PHC) at Dakin is a community-focused, accessible veterinary clinic offering sick and wellness exams, vaccinations, diagnostics, routine surgeries, and dentals for cats and dogs. The PHC aims to reduce barriers to veterinary care through a contextualized incremental care model, ensuring high-quality, affordable care for families with limited financial resources.

The clinic averages 6,000+ appointments annually and is seeking a veterinarian committed to exceptional medicine and serving the local community. The PHC team works collaboratively to help clients overcome barriers, understand care options, and make informed decisions for their pets. The clinic is equipped to deliver high-quality diagnostics and treatment, supported by local and national donors.

This position involves all aspects of wellness care and treatment of sick and injured pets. While not required, preference will be given to candidates with experience in minor surgical procedures, sterilization, and dentals. The role includes working with an outstanding leadership team and support staff to make veterinary care more accessible.

The PHC shares a facility with Dakin’s shelter and community spay-neuter department, fostering organization-wide teamwork and efficient resource use. The clinic operates Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week. Part-time opportunities may also be considered.
