PERSONNEL SPECIALIST
About the role
The Employment Development Department (EDD) is seeking a detail-oriented Personnel Specialist to join our dynamic team. This position plays a crucial role in processing payroll and benefit transactions, researching and interpreting personnel laws, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities
- Accurately process payroll and benefit transactions while navigating multiple personnel systems.
- Research, interpret, and apply Personnel State laws, rules, regulations, bargaining unit provisions, as well as departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain, manage, and reconcile attendance and payroll records for an assigned roster of employees, adapting quickly to changes.
- Serve as a liaison between employees, attendance units, and state control agencies.
- Research and resolve personnel discrepancies, keeping supervisors proactively informed of progress.
- Promptly respond to payroll and benefit-related inquiries, providing clear explanations and relevant resources.
Qualifications
This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the department and is subject to change as business needs arise.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in processing payroll and benefit transactions.
- Knowledge of Personnel State laws, rules, regulations, and departmental policies.
- Ability to maintain and reconcile attendance and payroll records.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using multiple personnel systems.
Benefits
The position offers an annual recruitment and retention bonus based on qualifying months worked.
Pay
The starting salary range for this classification is $4,030.00 - $5,044.00 A, $4,632.00 - $5,807.00 B, $4,799.00 - $6,008.00 C, and $5,184.00 - $6,488.00 D. Specific ranges may vary based on qualifications and experience.
Schedule
The position is a 12-month limited term - full-time role with an 8:00am – 5:00pm work shift, Monday – Friday.
