About the role
The Personnel Specialist is under the direct supervision of the Personnel Officer. Selected incumbents may also be eligible for an annual recruitment and retention payment of $2,400.00 - $4,800.00 in accordance with Pay Differential 240.
Responsibilities
- Monitor telephone and email inquiries received by the Human Resources Customer Service (Intake) Program.
- Respond timely verbally and in writing to any personnel department questions by current and new staff.
- Perform all customer service functions of the personnel office.
- Apply State laws, rules, and regulations, applying and complying with bargaining unit contracts.
- Accurately process, certify, and reconcile payroll transactions and employment transactions.
- Work with various computer systems such as Word, Excel, Access, State Controller’s personnel/payroll systems and transactions like NDI, SDI, IDL, CSP, PIMS, PIP, Benefits, CLAS etc.
Requirements
- Proficient math, computer, oral & written communication skills.
- Flexible to changing situations, dependable, exercise tact & good judgment, maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain strict deadlines.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years.
Skills
- Working knowledge of various computer systems such as Word, Excel, Access, State Controller’s personnel/payroll systems and transactions like NDI, SDI, IDL, CSP, PIMS, PIP, Benefits, CLAS etc.
Benefits
Selected incumbents may be eligible for an annual recruitment and retention payment of $2,400.00 - $4,800.00 in accordance with Pay Differential 240.
Pay
- $4,030.00 - $5,044.00 A
- $4,632.00 - $5,807.00 B
- $4,799.00 - $6,008.00 C
- $5,184.00 - $6,488.00 D
Schedule
- New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
