About the Role

This position involves initiating and managing security clearance actions for applicants and employees at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). An additional online assessment tool will be used to evaluate applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates security clearance actions for applicants entering employment and employees retaining employment with DISA.
  • Reviews and evaluates various materials relative to clearance requirements to determine adequacy and completeness.
  • Interviews employees or potential employees concerning errors, omissions, and requirements for further clarification on Personnel Security Questionnaires (SF Forms 85, 85P, 86).
  • Ensures all relevant information is developed in accordance with security regulations once investigations are completed.
  • Makes recommendations for streamlining records management for the Security Operations Branch.
  • Manages and coordinates file and source research for the Directorate, Division, and Branch Chiefs.
  • Oversees the compilation of reference materials.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • This is a national security position requiring a favorable suitability review and security clearance. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Candidates must have served 3 months after the latest competitive appointment in the Federal service.
  • Must meet the Time-in-Grade requirement (see Qualifications section).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees must have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks and must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service.
  • For the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable if outside the Federal service.
  • Specialized Experience: Processing initial and periodic background investigations, evaluating security eligibility of individuals for entry and retention in sensitive positions, and reviewing personnel security questionnaires for accuracy and completeness.

You may qualify for consideration if you meet time-in-grade, specialized experience, education requirements, and other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement.

Education

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level.
