Personal Injury Plaintiff Attorney

TORKLAW · Chicago, IL · 1 wk ago
Legal$100k–$160k/yrFull-time

About the Role

TORKLAW is an award-winning plaintiff personal injury law firm built around growth, accountability, compassion, and a relentless commitment to our clients. Our attorneys are trusted advocates, strategists, negotiators, and leaders who have a direct impact on the lives of the people we represent.

What You'll Own

The Case — You'll take ownership of personal injury cases from intake through settlement, developing the strategy and driving the case forward.

  • Conduct strategic investigations into liability, damages, and case value
  • Analyze medical records, evidence, and other case-related documentation
  • Develop case strategy and identify opportunities to maximize value
  • Draft and review demand packages and other legal documents
  • Negotiate with insurance carriers and opposing counsel
  • Evaluate settlement offers and make strategic recommendations
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the legal and factual issues affecting each case

The Client Experience — Our clients come to us during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. You'll be responsible for helping them understand the legal process, set expectations, answer their questions, and make sure they feel informed and supported throughout their case. We believe exceptional legal representation and exceptional client service go hand in hand.

Collaboration — You'll work closely with legal assistants, case managers, medical professionals, lien negotiators, and attorneys to move cases forward and deliver the best possible results. We value attorneys who communicate well, collaborate naturally, and understand that great outcomes are built by great teams.

Ownership — We're looking for someone who doesn't wait to be told what needs to happen. If something is holding a case back, you identify it. If there's an opportunity to strengthen a case, you pursue it. If a client needs help, you step in. You'll have significant responsibility for your caseload, and we expect our attorneys to take genuine ownership of the work.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an attorney who combines strong legal judgment with exceptional communication, organization, and client-service skills.

  • Active attorney in good standing
  • 5+ years of plaintiff personal injury experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of Illinois personal injury law and procedures
  • Experience managing a significant personal injury caseload
  • Strong negotiator who knows how to evaluate risk, leverage, and case value
  • Communicates confidently and empathetically with clients
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Takes ownership of cases and follows through
  • Can work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
  • Comfortable making strategic decisions and advocating for clients
  • Cares about both the outcome of the case and the experience of the person behind it
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required

This is a hands-on, high-accountability role. You'll have autonomy, but you'll also be expected to own your results. You'll need to be comfortable managing multiple priorities, making decisions, communicating with clients, and pushing cases forward without waiting for someone else to tell you what to do.

About Torklaw

TORKLAW represents people whose lives have been changed because of someone else's negligence. Our clients trust us with some of the most consequential problems they will ever face. We take that responsibility seriously. We're building a national law firm around exceptional client service, exceptional results, accountability, technology, and a relentless commitment to getting better. This role plays a key part in shaping the experience our clients have every time they interact with TORKLAW.

Growth

We hire people for what they can become, not simply for the position they're filling today. As TORKLAW continues to grow, attorneys who consistently demonstrate strong judgment, ownership, leadership, and results will have opportunities to take on greater responsibility. Whether that means mentoring other attorneys, taking on more complex cases, developing leadership skills, or growing into management, we want to help exceptional people build a career here.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: $100K–$160K annually, based on experience

Benefits — We believe in taking care of our team and investing in the people who help us grow. Our comprehensive benefits and perks include:

  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick time, and firm-observed holidays
  • Comprehensive medical insurance
  • Dental, vision, life, and other ancillary benefits
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 4% fully vested safe-harbor company match
  • Professional development and education opportunities
  • Regular firm events, team-building activities, and celebrations
  • Company-provided technology and equipment
  • A collaborative, high-performing environment
  • Opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility
