Personal Injury Attorney - Phoenix

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage approximately 120–140 active personal injury cases
  • Handle a caseload consisting of approximately 60–70% pre-litigation matters and 30–40% litigation matters
  • Develop and execute case strategies from initial evaluation through settlement or trial
  • Handle matters involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, dog bites, sexual assault, funeral home abuse, government claims and medical malpractice
  • Conduct and defend depositions
  • Manage written discovery and ensure all deadlines are met
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement demands and settlement agreements
  • Represent clients during virtual and in-person court appearances, mediations, depositions and arbitrations
  • Prepare cases for trial, including organizing evidence, developing case themes and preparing witnesses
  • Conduct regular settlement negotiations with opposing counsel and insurance representatives
  • Maintain frequent, compassionate and transparent communication with clients
  • Review work completed by paralegals, litigation assistants, demand writers and other support staff
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support teams across the firm’s Arizona and California offices
  • Manage competing priorities and deadlines without compromising accuracy or work quality
  • Maintain organized and accurate case files using the firm’s case management systems

Requirements

  • Active and unrestricted Arizona Bar license
  • Active and unrestricted California Bar license
  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • At least one year of civil litigation experience
  • Experience working in a high-volume legal practice
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Able to independently manage a substantial caseload
  • Experience handling client communication, settlement negotiations and court appearances
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to review support staff work for accuracy
  • Able to work quickly under pressure while producing high-quality work
  • Empathetic and responsive approach to working with injured clients
  • Confidence accepting direct feedback, asking questions, and taking ownership of outcomes
  • Able to work onsite in Phoenix and attend initial onboarding in Irvine

Preferred Qualifications

  • Plaintiff-side personal injury experience
  • Experience taking and defending depositions
  • Trial preparation or trial experience
  • Experience collaborating with teams across multiple offices
  • Plaintiff-side employment, workers’ compensation, mass tort or elder abuse experience
  • Familiarity with Filevine, Westlaw, LexisNexis and legal AI platforms
