About the role

This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. Primary responsibilities include financial counseling services to military service members and their families.

Responsibilities

  • One-on-one counseling, consultation with commanders or other providers/staff, conducting briefings and presentations, or providing referral resources to participants outside counseling sessions.
  • Closely works with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure program scope and meeting installation needs.
  • Assists service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
  • Makes available informational financial materials to service members and families.
  • Coordinates, publicizes, and provides a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops, covering topics relevant to the military lifecycle.
  • Responds to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
  • Utilizes virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication, such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications.
  • Manages duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol.
  • Communicates with leadership and participates in regular individual and group supervision.
  • Participates in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned/appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. Associate degree plus 4 years' experience or high school diploma plus 6 years' experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and fluency in English required. Bilingual in English and Spanish may be preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
  • Must have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of military lifecycle and financial management principles.

Pay

Salary range: $58,440 - $93,500
