About the role

This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. It includes counseling and managing financial services for military service members and their families.

Responsibilities

  • One-on-one counseling and consultation with a commander or other providers
  • Conducting briefings and presentations
  • Providing referral resources to participants outside of counseling sessions
  • Closely working with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure the program meets the needs of the installation
  • Assisting service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences
  • Making available informational financial materials to service members and families
  • Coordinating and publicizing a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops
  • Responding to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
  • Utilizing virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication
  • Managing duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol
  • Communicating with leadership and participating in regular supervision and training

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • High school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience
  • U.S. citizenship and fluency in English
  • If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
  • Must have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process

Skills

Effective communication skills, ability to work independently, and proficiency in virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication.

$58,440 - $93,500 annually
