Personal Financial Counselor - Grand Junction, CO

About the role

This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. It includes counseling and management services, educational programs, and coordination with military branch Points of Contact.

Responsibilities

• One-on-one counseling and consultations with service members and families
• Conducting briefings and presentations on financial matters
• Providing referral resources to participants outside counseling sessions
• Closely working with installation and military branch Points of Contact
• Assisting service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences
• Making available informational financial materials to service members and families
• Coordinating and publicizing a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops
• Responding to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars
• Utilizing virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication
• Managing duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol
• Communicating with leadership and participating in regular supervision and training
• Participating in in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience
• U.S. citizenship and fluency in English
• If required by the contract, bilingual in English and Spanish
• Able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation
• Must have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Driver license, valid in state
• Other licenses and certifications preferred

Effective communication skills, ability to work independently, and proficiency in virtual counseling or electronic communication methods.

Pay

Salary range: $58,440 - $93,500
