This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including:
    • One-on-one counseling
    • Consultation with commanders, providers, or staff
    • Conducting briefings and presentations
    • Providing referral resources outside of counseling sessions
  • Work closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure the program operates within scope and meets installation needs.
  • Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families.
  • Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
  • Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and provide a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle, such as:
    • Arrival at first duty station
    • Pre- and post-deployment
    • Personal and career events outlined in DoDI 1322.34
  • Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
  • Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (e.g., web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications, secure video teleconference) as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
  • Manage duty-to-warn situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol.
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues at assigned installations.
  • Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, aligned with the intent of this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • May consider applicants with an associate degree plus 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
    • May consider applicants with a high school diploma plus 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English.
  • If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
  • Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications:
    • Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC)
    • Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
    • Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC)
  • Valid driver’s license.

Pay

Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500. This reflects the anticipated base salary range based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary by location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position may also be eligible for short-term incentives.
