Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage in short-term, surge and on-demand situations resulting from Military needs.
  • Offer full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.
  • Address financial services through one-on-one counseling, consultations, briefings, and presentations.
  • Work closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact to ensure the program meets scope and installation needs.
  • Directly provide personal financial counseling and management services to service members and families.
  • Aid service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
  • Develop and make available informational financial materials to service members and families.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and provide a variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops.
  • Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars.
  • Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication as needed.
  • Manage duty to warn situations according to DoD protocol.
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision and training.
  • Participate in in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, or an associate degree plus 4 years' experience, or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • U.S. citizenship and fluency in English.
  • If required by the contract, must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
  • Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
  • One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Qualifications

  • Required: Financial Counseling Work Experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Education.
  • License and Certifications: AFC, CFP, ChFC, DL (Valid In State).

  • Effective utilization of virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication.
  • Communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage duty to warn situations.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
