About the Role

This position provides coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations to meet Military needs, such as post-deployment events or to cover absences of existing counselors. The role involves delivering a full range of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one financial counseling, consultations, briefings, and presentations to service members and their families.
  • Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
  • Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
  • Coordinate, publicize, and conduct Personal Financial Management classes/workshops on topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment).
  • Respond to requests for age-appropriate financial classes or seminars.
  • Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes (e.g., web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications, or secure video teleconference). Virtual support requires authorization from the OSD FINRED Program office.
  • Manage duty-to-warn situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol.
  • Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trends and issues from assigned installations.
  • Participate in in-services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, aligned with the intent of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Alternatives:
    • Associate degree plus 4 years of relevant experience.
    • High school diploma plus 6 years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and fluent in English. Bilingual in English and Spanish may be required by contract.
  • Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
  • Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications:
    • Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC).
    • Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
    • Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
  • Valid driver’s license.

Pay

Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500. Actual pay will be adjusted based on skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position may also be eligible for short-term incentives.
